Do you have a recovery or wrecking service or plan to start one?  Did you know you can easily and affordably convert a Flatbed Truck to tow a vehicle?  In fact, a Flatbed Tow Truck is ideal because the towed vehicle’s wheels never have to touch the ground so you never have to worry about damaging tires, transmissions, or 4-wheel drive systems.

There’s a lot of money to be made in the car hauling industry.  From transporting new cars to vehicle recovery and towing wrecked cars and trucks, there is a myriad of niches you can get into when you have access to a car hauler.

If you’ve got a Tow Truck and a list of individuals who aren’t keeping up their end of a financial agreement, you’ve got the potential to earn some serious cash.  While the number of vehicle loans in the US has increased this year, so have the number of delinquent vehicle payments.

It is estimated by the American Federal Reserve that roughly 7 million Americans are at least 90 days overdue on their vehicle loans.  Due to these astounding statistics, vehicle recovery is a booming business.  Here are some tow truck tips you should know if you are considering getting into the repo revolution:

Know the Local Law

Every state is different when it comes to repossession laws. In some states, a commercial driver’s license is all you will need [...]

An alarming 500,000 accidents are estimated to occur
annually involving 18-wheeler trucks on American highways.  Of those, around 5,000 fatalities result. Coupled with driver error, mechanical failures were a leading cause of the wrecks with twenty-seven percent of the trucks being found to have brake issues with engine problems and lighting system failures being close contending culprits as well.

The fact of the matter is that every time you get behind the wheel of a Commercial Vehicle, you are not only taking your life into your hands but the life of others on the road too.  Driving in a safe truck just makes sense.

Reasons Truckers Take Risks

Breaker, breaker, one nine!  Got your ears on, good buddy?  From the iconic 1977 movie “Smokey and the Bandit” starring Burt Reynolds to the hit “Sad Song Teddy Bear” by Red Savine, CBs, or Citizen Band Radios, have been coloring our world since they were invented in 1947.

Originally, CBs were called Class D Citizen’s Radio.  They were first used in the military.  Users were limited and highly regulated and were required to hold a license to operate one.

In 1977, all that changed.  Not only was “Smokey and the Bandit” a blowout at the box office, but 17 new channels were also added to the frequency access.  Licensing was no longer a requirement.  A new trend was born.

Truckers have used CB radios since 1973 when the industry [...]

Winter will be here before you know it.  It’s not too early to winterize your Commercial Spray Truck to make sure you don’t get left out in the cold.

Why Winterize?

Hopefully, your Spray Truck has had a busy and profitable season and it’s time to give it a little TLC.  Whether you’ll be tucking it away for the winter or gearing up for business to boom in the upcoming cold months, if you take care of your money-making machine, it will take care of you.

You want to protect your investment from harsh elements like ice and snow and allow it to recover from the dog days of summer you put it through.  Both winter and summer can be tough on truck parts so the change of season is a great time to tend to some upkeep. [...]

Hurricane Laura quickly turned into a Category 4 hurricane as it lashed into the Texas and Louisiana coastline shortly after midnight on today, August 27.  With winds up to 135 miles-per-hour, the storm tore down powerlines, uprooted trees, and blew roofs and walls off homes and businesses in the Texas town of Port Arthur to Louisiana’s Lake Charles and beyond.

It is estimated that over 500,000 evacuated or are displaced.  One death has been reported so far.  Even though the blunt of the hurricane has come to a head and is now subsiding, the devastation will be felt for months to come.

Among those the blow will affect are truckers who make their livings up and down the highways.  Many are too dangerous to travel and will be for an indefinite period of time.

Tomorrow, sixty-five-year-old JD Spor from the sleepy little mountain town of Norwood, Colorado will have surgery to correct his neck.  Once he’s recovered, he’ll have another surgery to begin repairing his back.  He is looking forward to the procedures because as he stated, “I’ve lived with the pain long enough.”

Like many truck drivers who are both retired and actively working, JD’s back and neck issues are a direct result of driving.  Years ago, when JD started out in the industry, he was behind the wheel of a massive logging truck.  “And it was a doozy,” he explained.  The old logging truck was as rough and tumble as they get, tossing him to and fro.  The gear shift was even worse because it would stick.  “Going up and down the narrow, steep mountain backroads, I had to put [...]

It’s a dream come true for some, a real-life sci-fi movie in the making.  But, it’s a nightmare for others, mainly the real-live truckers who have kept our nation moving for decades.

I a recent report, the highly acclaimed (and trusted) news reporting and broadcasting entity, Sixty Minutes, covered a highly controversial but very real subject – driverless trucks.  The problem for those who are not fans of the new step in technology is that the automated trucking is inevitable.  That reality is sending signals of impending doom to the thousands of truckers who are at risk of losing their livelihood if the endeavor becomes a reality.  And…it will.  Whether it will be a successful one is all that is left up in the air.

What many Americans (including truck drivers) [...]

Truckers Refuse to Brake for Trouble Times

Trucking and Freight Industries Faring Well During Pandemic

It was recently reported that the trucking and freight industries are faring better than most fields of business in the recent troubled times.  While COVID-19 has brought much of the nation’s economy to an all-time low, demand for supplies, like medicine and food, has helped the trucking and freight industries. Now that truckers and freight delivery personnel are adjusting to the changes, it is projected the two industries will come out even better in the upcoming months.

Numbers Don’t Lie

The information came with the August 7 jobs report which was released by the Department of Labor.  Many in the industry are calling it “encouraging”.  A survey taken not long ago by DAT Solutions confirms that the belief the industry will hold its own is universal among drivers, both independent and otherwise, and trucking company [...]

Are Truckers Next to Be Defunded?

No Police, No Deliveries? Truckers Are Speaking AND Gearing Up

A lot is going on in the trucking world right now because so much is going on in the world!  From COVID-19 to protests to defund the police, truckers everywhere are scratching their heads for lack of knowing what else to do.  Here are some of the issues facing the trucking industry:

The Trouble with Trucking

It didn’t take long for word to travel among truckers – widespread looting and rioting gone rampant were making downtown un-accessible and…un-safe. If your route included Chicago’s downtown on Monday, August 10, you were out of luck.

It all began on Sunday afternoon with an officer-involved shooting where two citizens were also shot and over 100 protestors went to jail.  Thirteen policemen were injured.

Meanwhile, windows were broken and stores were stripped.
